<image:title>Meditation - Central to Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings are scientific techniques of concentration and meditation that lead to the direct personal experience of God. These yoga methods quiet the mind and make it possible to withdraw the energy and attention from the usual turbulence of thoughts, emotions and sensory perceptions. In the clarity of that inner stillness, you will come to experience a deepening awareness of God’s presence as inner peace and divine bliss. An introduction to meditation can be found here. In-depth study of the yoga methods taught by Paramahansa Yoganana is available through the SRF Lessons, a home-study series organized in easy-to-absorb weekly studies. Paramahansa Yogananda also taught the importance of meditating with others: “The proximity of others’ spiritual vibrations has the power of raising your own. . . .” To learn more about the value and purpose of group meditation, please visit Seeking God Together. <image:caption>Paramahansa Yogananda founded Self-Realization Fellowship in 1920 for the purpose of disseminating Kriya Yoga, a definite scientific technique for attaining direct personal experience of God. Through his writings, including his spiritual classic, Autobiography of a Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda has introduced truth-seekers all over the world to India’s age-old philosophy of Yoga and its time-honored tradition of meditation. These universal teachings offer a science of spiritual exploration – one that enables us to create for ourselves spiritually harmonious lives and to contribute to a more compassionate and peaceful world. The Fellowship is dedicated to promoting a greater understanding and harmony among the world’s religions by teaching the fundamental principle of religion: how to commune with God. <image:title>Services - Our services provide an opportunity for sincere seekers to come together for united effort in communing with God on the altar of stillness within. We ask that participants contribute to the reverent atmosphere conducive to deep communion with God by maintaining silence as much as possible before, during and after the services. In that spirit of silence, please do greet one another after the services to promote harmony and friendship in the circle.</image:title>

<image:title>Who We Are - Our circle was not the first SRF group to be formed in Pittsburgh. Paramahansa Yogananda himself initiated the “Pittsburgh Center” during visits to Pittsburgh in 1926 when he gave lectures and classes at Soldiers and Sailors Hall (pictured here). In 1927 he returned to Pittsburgh and held a meditation with the devotees.</image:title>

<image:caption>We extend a warm welcome to join us in our search for God. Our Kriya Yoga path is based in practice and experience and not on belief and dogma. As such, its teachings and practices can benefit followers of all religions and those who follow no religion.</image:caption>

<image:title>Who We Are - As Paramahansa Yogananda envisioned in the quote above, our meditation circle got its start in 1973 when “a few truth-seekers” began meditating together in their Pittsburgh homes. With the guidance of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), the circle has grown, and now devotees from all over the region gather weekly to “meditate and learn the way to commune with God.” Visits from SRF Monastics (pictured here) have been a particular blessing for our devotees.</image:title>
